Another Day, Another Game Console

Well, Japan does it again! Recently it seems that every trek is yielding gear that I rarely see, and to top it off the prices have been great. πŸ˜€

So what have I come back with this time? Well before getting into that, I should tell you that what you see bellow is only a small part. I did end up buying more games as well, but as I put them with the other 500 or so I bought recently, I can’t tell which were from the last lot, and which were from this lot.

Anyway, some gear:

A V-Saturn (can’t believe I got another Narf!), Virtual-On Twin Stick, and Saturn Virtua Cop set.

The Saturn would have to be the pick out of the above gear. It was a really lucky find.

Now onto the rest…. Managed to get a Gameboy Light, and for those of you that don’t know what this is, it’s basically a regular Gameboy, but it has a backlight built into it. I believe these are a Japan exclusive? Got a few Famicom Keyboards too – these allow the user to create software to run on their Famicoms. I am on the lookout for a Tapedeck for the Famicom if anyone reading this has one they’d like to sell/give away. πŸ˜‰

So like I said, there are actually more games included with this run which aren’t shown, but even without those pictured above I seem to have cleaned up. To Sean @ Retro Otaku, you have to hurry over my friend – at this rate I will have emptied these places out!! πŸ˜€

Some Good News and….. – Part 4

So the final day of the Golden Week Holidays has come (which isn’t actually a full week if you’re wondering), and another car load of games and gear arrives at home.

My brain is totally fried from going through thousands (yes, thousands) of games, picking out which I want, then carting baskets back and forth. It’s a hard life for a game hoarder in Japan. ?

As I thought, this shop did in fact put out another heap of games today, but I definitely cleaned them out in relation to NeoGeoCD, PCE, and 3DO the past few days as there weren’t any new ones today.

Anyway, now to today’s load!

Dreamcast.
I was pretty wrapped to find MvC 1 and 2 there today, plus I got another copy of ChuChuRocket just to make sure Frank can have one.

Dreamcast

Saturn.
Just a few gems.

Sega Saturn

More PCE stuff, NeoGeo controller, some PS1 disks, and a few other grabs.

NeoGeo PCE Dreamcast

All up, this holiday break has been freaking amazing for gear! The wife is freaking slightly, but I have reassured her that at least the triples will be sold off. ?

Some Good News and….. – Part 3

Well…. I went back, and they had new stuff out!!! As the shelves are emptied from frenzied hoarders, it seems they are putting more and more stock out. Golden week holidays have never been so good for this old retro head.

I don’t know if this is the end for this store or not, but I am really making the most of their last dying breath if it is. πŸ˜€

So today’s haul…..

The Dreamcast.

dscf8702

The PCFX, Saturn, PS1, MegaDrive, and a few other bits and pieces.

dscf8705

Some loose PCE HuCards.

dscf8706

NeoGeo AES with some games.

dscf8707

NeoGeo Front Loader CD with games included. I have wanted one of these for ages!!

dscf8709

Capcom controller. This one can be used on the Famicom/NES, and the SuperFami/SNES. I plan to do a write-up on this one when I get a chance.

So all up another great haul! Am I going again tomorrow? Yep, you bet your arse I am! πŸ˜€

Nintendo Mach Rider – 1972 was a good year

We all know of Nintendo video games, and of course we all know of Mario, but what about the days before Mario hit the scene, or even before Nintendo had anything connected to a television? That’s where the Nintendo Mach Rider comes in. πŸ˜€

nintendo-mach-rider-vintage-toy-car

The Nintendo Mach Rider must have been one of those toys that every kid wanted. I can just imagine the line-up of kids with long scruffy hair, flared pants, and huge sunglasses waiting to get their grubby little hands on this thing. It really is a cool toy.

nintendo-mach-rider-vintage-toy-car-5

Made in 1972, the Nintendo Mach Rider is a battery operated toy car that basically shoots off in toe breaking fashion. You place the car on the ramp, then adjust the gear shifter to go through the gears (with each gear increasing the speed of the drive wheel), then once you hit the fourth gear the thing shoots off the ramp.

Cats must have hated this thing! πŸ˜€

The instructions printed on the inside of the box in the following picture give some insight of how the thing works, but I will also link you to HairballNick’s youtube video which shows this actual car in action. Nick bought this one off me, and I am sure he won’t mind me linking to his vid.

nintendo-mach-rider-vintage-toy-car-2

I would have loved to keep this car in all honesty, but I have to draw the line somewhere – I just don’t have the space!

nintendo-mach-rider-vintage-toy-car-6

If you want to read about this particular toy in more detail, or read about any of the other toys before Mario, then definitely follow the link on the right to the ‘before-mario’ site. His collection of Nintendo is amazing to say the least. πŸ™‚

Some Good News, and…… – Part 2

So as you know, yesterday I managed to score myself quite a large haul of retro gaming goodness. The only trouble was that the store I got them from seems to be abandoning their retro gaming section – this totally sucks, but I am not here to talk about at the moment.

I am here to show you the games that I got yesterday all spread out! πŸ˜€

First off here are the Saturn games. Not a huge lot, but there are a few that I didn’t have before.

sega-saturn

Next up, Dreamcast. Some interesting titles in this bunch, but the pick would have to be the three Pop’n’Music disks for me.

dreamcast

Sega MegaCD. I love getting my hands on MegaCD games for some reason. I think it’s because I wanted one so badly back in the day, but I sort of missed the boat and jumped straight to the PS1.

sega-megacd

Loose NEC HuCards. I was a little surprised by how many doubles of the HuCards I snagged – that’s what happens when it’s a feeding frenzy I guess.

nec-hucard-loose

Now to the cased HuCards.

nec-hucard-cased

NEC SuperCDRoms. Fighting Street made its way in there for some reason, but that should have been in the regular CDROM photo. Turns out there are two Fighting Streets though.

nec-super-cdrom

NEC CDROMs.

nec-cdrom

NEC Arcade and one lonely SuperGraphics card.

nec-arcade-and-supergraphx

NeoGeo CDs. I am always asked to get these so I bought pretty much all they had left. The ones I missed out on that I saw last week though will give me nightmares for months though!!! πŸ™

neogeo-cd-snk

Panasonic 3DO. I was really hoping to find a stray RoadRash in the frenzy, but it wasn’t ot be. I did expand the 3DO collection pretty well with this bunch though.

panasonic-3do

Playstation 1 and Playstation 2. Some great titles in this lot – specially for the PS1. *Click on the thumbs to enlarge.

playstation playstation-2-ps2

Missed these yesterday when I took the pics. A Gameboy Pikachu printer, some NeoGeo Pocket games, and a lonely VirtualBoy cart.

pikashu-gameboy-printer neogeo-pocket-virtual-boy

Finally another one that didn’t show in the pics yesterday – an Epoch Hang-On. I actually got this for HairballNick as I thought he might like to have a matching pair. Let me know if you’re keen Nick.

epoch-hangon

Well, it was fun actually having the time to dig through this latest haul today. I must have been glazed over judging by the amount of doubles I picked up though. I am sure there are those of you out there thinking six SFII HuCards are a bit much, but then I am sure there are those of you out there that are thinking why stop at only six. πŸ˜€
